NEWPORT BEACH, CaliforniaNewport Beach will begin dredging the Rhine Channel and a small portion of the Newport Channel adjacent to Marina Park, the American Legion, and the 15th Street pier starting Monday July 25th.
All vessels within the construction zone must be removed and relocated by their owners or be towed by the city at the owners expense. The city has made arrangements for free moorings throughout the harbor on a first come, first serve basis. Contact the Harbor Patrol for information.
An estimated 150,000 cubic yards of contaminated sediment will be dredged and removed by the end of December. The Port of Long Beach will safely reuse the sediment as part of a port redevelopment project.
Visit the Newport Beach city web site for details, maps, and schedules.
