July 19 Costa Mesa City Council meeting
COSTA MESA, CaliforniaA busy Costa Mesa City Council meeting went well past midnight. The council evaluated the Orange County Fire Authoritys proposal and decided to continue to negotiate with the OCFA, but also to explore possible mergers with other local fire departments, such as Newport Beach.
The council voted four to one, with Wendy Leece in dissent, to enter into a contract for website redesign and to extend the contract with William Lobdell as Interim Communications Director.
The council voted unanimously to charge a $10 fee to non-residents for the Costa Mesa Police Department to sign off on fix-it tickets, to certify special assessments for collecting delinquent civil fines, to pass its new massage ordinance, to adopt an investment policy, and to cancel the August 16th city council meeting.
The council voted four to one, with Eric Bever dissenting, to give Newport Mesa Girls Softball a two year extension on a $1 per field fee.
The council voted four to one, with Stephen Mensinger dissenting, to grant Friday Night Lights Flag Football group one field user status.
