three cities to combine services
COSTA MESA, CaliforniaThe cities of Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, and Huntington Beach announced they will formally explore combining five municipal services with the stated goal of improv[ing] efficiency and sav[ing] taxpayer money.
The five services are: Police Special Weapons and Tactics or SWAT services, lifeguard services, jail services, animal control services, and police and fire dispatch services.
An in-depth analysis is being prepared by Management Partners Inc. at a cost of $81,675, or $27,225 per city. In about five months Management Partners will write a report on initial and long term costs and savings, implementation, and service-level needs.
